Toddler Moments

Girls Gone Wild at Bedtime

Well. It’s happened. Our 2 year old has learned to climb out of her crib.

Our two little girls share a room and BOTH were up and down all night long the other night. The funny thing is we couldn’t figure out what was going on. I checked the camera and didn’t see anything alarming yet it continued. So I went in, thinking one of them had a blow out. (It’s happened before) I find that my toddler all of a sudden has her sun hat and a potty chair in her crib. (WTF) I thought she shimmied it up and over, since it was near the crib because this tired mommy forgot to put it away. The hat baffled me but hey maybe we didn’t see it at bed time. We then saw her attempt to get over her crib, so we asked if she could show us. She did. Like a pro, I might add. I see gymnastics in her future, since she practically vaulted out of her crib. She also clapped for herself after landing.

Our 2 year old is pretty excited about her transition into her big girl bed, thankfully she is pretty chill laying there until either my husband or I come in. BUT that hasn’t stopped her from playing with 4 Minnie dolls in bed. The biggest downfall is she isn’t interested in napping at all. So no wonder she stays in bed at night, being up 12 hours straight for a 2 year old is kind of rough.

Exploring her new bed

Our 10 month old has been pretty busy too! She has discovered she can stand up in her crib! She will crawl from one side to the other, pull herself up and turn on the fish aquarium toy in the crib. She has also picked up babbling more, so that’s what I hear most mornings before 7am. Mackenzie is also not wanting to nap much, due to all these new abilities.

Not gonna lie, it’s been a little rough during the past couple days and this momma needs a damn break. But we are surviving.

I’m reminded by a lot of people that I’m lucky Charlotte (my 2 year old) stayed in her crib this long. Well, she is 27 months when this happened, so I guess that’s long. I’m not sure. My oldest was around 2 as well. How old were your kids when they learned to climb out of their cribs?
